Why "edible art"?
Over the past 20 years I've had an interesting journey of discovery, navigating my way through life's surprises. This journey from graphic design student to cake artist and confectioner brings me to a place where I can merrily combine two passions - art and food... and so I turned a hobby into a business venture. Sweetarts is based in Diep River, in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town and is a homebased business. Currently it is a one-woman operation, but I do enlist my son's help from time to time - that increasing on a weekly basis! We operate from our home kitchen, not a big fancy bakery as everyone thinks ;)
Since I often receive inquiries about the Halaal aspect, I am pleased to mention I have a varied client base and also boast a growing list of Muslim customers who are happy to know that my suppliers are Halaal and that we as a family do not eat pork, pork by-products or cook with alcohol.
